Doomdooma College - The pioneer institute of higher education situated
in easternmost part of Assam was established in 1967. The college
holds the pride of privilege in disseminating education and culture
among various ethnic group of students in particular and public in
general surrounded this area. It was through the pioneering and
untiring efforts of the Late Jogendra Nath Deka, most sensitive mind
with a profound sense of social commitment backed by the unstinted
support of general public of this area, this college was formally
inaugurated on 4th July 1967.
At present the college provides higher education in three streams with
major courses as many as eight subject in degree level. It has the
library with good number of books with spacious reading rooms both for
students and teachers magnificent science building with well -
equipped laboratory, Computer facilities and NCC for both boys and
girls. The college also offers financial aid and book grants to
economically poor students.
The aim and objectives of this higher seat of learning is to make the
students socially conscious human beings with proper understanding of
the human values and also to be self dependent to cope up with the
challenges of the time rather than to turn them into knowledge
machines.
The Doomdooma College has been accredited with 'B' Grade by NAAC for
five years. Now the College has to dreams for he healthy mixture of
traditional and innovative educational endeavors and extension
programs to meet the challenges of higher education. In the coming
years we have plans to offer several traditional and career
oriented courses to realize the educational aspirations of the
locality.
