The Doomdooma College was established in the year 1967 by the
leading citizens and local people to provide facilities of higher
education to meet the needs of underprivileged section of the
society in this rural backward tribal area of Assam. The founding
father aim was to provide quality higher education to young
aspirants of the area. They arranged for general education in
Arts, Science and Commerce to make the young generation aware of
their social responsibilities and become qualified for employment
in the competitive modern world.
The establishment of the college opened up equal opportunities to
the students of a backward region of Assam for attending better
social status through merit. No discrimination is made by the
college on the grounds of race, gender, language, religion, caste,
culture and physical disabilities.
The Doomdooma College is an affiliated College of Dibrugarh
University. It has a campus area of 20 acres located in the tribal
area. The college received University Grant Commission recognition
under 2(f) in July 1971. The College is also under the deficit
Grant-in-Aid scheme.
